Carers Card Celebrates its Second Anniversary

The Carers Card is two years old!

Carers Card launched in June 2016 and aims to recognise the hard work of unpaid carers across the county of Dorset. The card enables unpaid carers to obtain discounts with any business that signs up to the scheme. The scheme is funded by Dorset County Council, Bournemouth Borough Council, The Borough of Poole and Dorset Clinical Commissioning Group.

Carers Card needs more businesses to join the scheme, this discount scheme helps to remind the wider community that unpaid carers are out there amongst us and that there is actually something positive they can do to support them. The increased visibility that the Carers Card offers helps carers to feel valued in our society and appreciative of that extra support and recognition the card gives. It is estimated that unpaid carers across the UK save the country approximately ยฃ60 billion a year (Office of National Statistics 2017).
