Has anyone experienced Elderly Anorexia?

Asked by

She picks at her meals and insists she’s still full from breakfast. She has been doing this more since the lockdown. She insists she still weighs 9 stone but she has a skeletal appearance and her clothes are hanging off of her. When I talk to her about it she’s irritated. She’s the same about drinking water and coffee. She will go all day only having three drinks. She’s not got dementia or anything she’s very with it. She does live alone after losing my dad in 2011, but she was eating fair sized meals and we all made sure she was taken out and had family time. The fluid think was going on before my dad died, but the eating has been the last year and a half. She doesn’t see there’s a problem and she’d be offended if I asked her to let me weigh her. I just don’t know what to do and I can’t watch her getting thinner and thinner, she’s looking frail now.
