hi we recently went to the local deaf association with my father. His hearing aids never seem to work properly and now he can’t hear the radio or tv. They were brilliant and definitely worth seeing if you have one Jill. We asked if we should pay for a private hearing aid, but they said the NHS ones are absolutely fine, and the other issues could be sorted with using the Loop properly (dad swore it didn’t work – it does) and buying a device to amplify the telly. They have loads of info on all these gadgets, and the best thing is you can go to an NHS audiology clinic there, without trekking to the hospital. Good luck.
