Buckinghamshire Bereavement Support Services:

Cruse Buckinghamshire

Cruse Bereavement Care is a national charity with the aim of supporting people through bereavement. Across the country, they have local branches including Cruse Bucks which runs services from Amersham, Aylesbury and High Wycombe. Cruse Bucks firstly run a ‘First Steps’ group to help the recently bereaved understand more about Cruse and the help available, as well as the chance to talk about their grief. They also run bereavement support and social meetings to talk about grief in a caring environment and meet others in similar circumstances. All Cruse services are free of charge.

Milton Keynes Bereavement Service

Milton Keynes Bereavement Service have been offering bereavement support to the local community for over 35 years. They are an inclusive and welcoming organisation, offering emotional support through one-on-one counselling. This can be provided in a range of settings depending on circumstances. Those who feel they may benefit from the service can self-refer or be referred by a family or friend.

In addition to one-on-one counselling sessions that are organised in advance, Milton Keynes Bereavement Service also run a drop-in:

Florence Nightingale Bereavement Support Services

The Florence Nightingale Hospice are keen to support bereaved family and friends after the loss of a loved one. They run the two support services below.

Time to Remember

The ‘Time to Remember’ service is regularly held at the Florence Nightingale Hospice. It provides an opportunity for families and friends to come together and remember a loved one. The service involves readings and songs with a central act of remembrance of lost loved ones. There is a chance to talk with other relatives after the service and members of the bereavement support team over refreshments afterwards.

Bereavement and Palliative Care Support Drop In Cafe

The drop-in cafe runs on the last Friday of the month between 1pm – 3pm. There is an informal setting where anyone who is suffering bereavement is made to feel welcome. There is no charge, and attendees can come for as little or as long as they like. Refreshments are provided are there is the opportunity to talk to others in similar circumstances.

Oasis Bereavement Group, Flackwell Heath

Oasis is a bereavement self-help group open to all who have suffered any kind of bereavement. The group provides a social opportunity to meet others in a similar position. There are also fun activities such as music, craft, meals and talks. Occasional outings are also arranged throughout the year.
