Over 60s Discounts for Travel in Dorset
Free bus travel is offered to senior citizens across the country to help them get around after they reach the state pension age. For full information on applying for an older person’s bus pass in Dorset, you can visit the Dorset County Council website.
Having the pass will entitle you to free travel:
- Between 9:30am - 11:00pm on weekdays
- All day on weekends and bank holidays

Senior Railcards are available to over 60s, entitling them to 1/3 off of train fares across the country. These can be purchased for a £30 annual payment via the Senior Railcard’s Website.
The holder will need to carry their Railcard on them at all times during travel to avoid receiving a fine. You can also buy a Senior Railcard at a station (bring a passport photo to be used).

National Express offer Senior Coachcards to over 60s, entitling them to 1/3 off of Standard and Fully Flexible tickets for coach travel.
A Senior Coachcard can be purchased for an annual payment of £12.50 (plus £2.50 postage).

Blue Badge Scheme
The Blue Badge scheme is a national scheme that entitles the holder to car parking concessions if they or their passenger has severe mobility problems. Applications will need to be supported by a specialist healthcare professional and can be made through the government website for £10.00.

Leisure Discounts for the Over 60s in Dorset
Seniors can receive a 25% discount off of their National Trust membership. This is available to over 60s that have held an existing membership for the last three years consecutively.
As this is an opt-in scheme, you will need to contact them on 0344 800 1895 to apply the discount to your membership.
There are plenty of wonderful National Trust properties to visit across Dorset that a membership allows free access to, including Kingston Lacy, Corfe Castle and Badbury Rings.
There are a number of English Heritage attractions across Dorset, including Portland Castle and Maiden Castle. Health and Wellbeing Discounts for the Over 60s in Dorset
Over 60s can get a 20% discount on a single pair of glasses that are in specific ranges at Specsavers. Free, NHS-funded eye tests can also be offered.

- The 12-month PPC costs £111.60 and will save you money if you need more than 11 prescribed items in a year.
