Throughout the day there is a jam-packed schedule of activities including group games, crafts, bingo, fitness and music. Participation in activities is encouraged by not mandatory; the care actively encourage building relationships and conversations. A two course lunch is available each day included in the daily fee of £45.

The centre is fully dementia-friendly through the built environment along with a dedicated care team who have considerable experience in supporting those diagnosed. All members have individual care plans so diets and behaviours are measured in a non-intrusive way. This means carers at the centre can clearly communicate any deterioration that families may need to be aware of.

COATS Centre for Crowthorne’s Seniors

The COATS centre is a pillar of the elderly community in Crowthorne. A two or three course freshly cooked lunch is available each day for a reasonable cost of £6.

Card games day centre

There is a schedule of exciting afternoon activities including bowls, bingo, exercise classes, quizzes and skittles. Entertainers regular visit the centre including pianists, speakers and choirs. Crossroads Hazelwood Day Centre

The Crossroads Care day service is based at the Hazelwood Centre (part of Prospect Park Hospital). The service provides an welcoming and supportive environment to carers and people with care needs.

The centre provides meaningful activities such as community visits, yoga, walks, art and pet therapy. There is the oppurtunity to socialise with other carers and their loved ones. Unlike other day care centres, the Crossroads service places emphasis on supporting the carer as well as their elderly relative.

The service is free to family carers and their loved ones living in the Reading council area. Those living outside Reading council are welcome but there is a cost of £35. Tea and coffee are provided, but lunch is not so it is recommended to bring a packed lunch.

Age UK Reading Day Service

Age UK Reading run a day service for local elderly people. This provides an opportunity to meet up with friends and have a substantial meal or afternoon tea. The service is comfortable, welcoming and fun. Activities available include bingo, group singing, quizzes, art and reminiscence sessions.

Carnation Day Care Centre, Thatcham

The Carnation day care service supports local elderly people in the area and those living with dementia. A wide range of activities are on offer tailored to individual needs. The Phoenix Resource Centre operates to help adults with learning difficulties, physical disabilities and those with frailty and dementia. The centre is spacious and well-equipped with excellent facilities for activities.

An independent charity-run organisation, the Ascot District Day Centre has operated for more than 40 years. Services provided at the day centre include hairdressing, chiropody, activities and day trips. Regular events are organised by staff including concerts and a Christmas party.

On Saturdays, the centre runs a ‘Day Care Plus’ service. This quieter day is dedicated to those requiring extra medical attention through specialised nursing care. This offers carers the chance to have a day off.

The purpose built day centre is a short five minute walk away from the centre of Twyford. The building is designed to be welcoming; the main room is large and comfortable with a hearing loop installed.
