Home Local Age Space Hampshire & IOW Dementia
Hampshire has an ageing population; meaning the number of those living in the county with dementia is increasing. The NHS and local charities have support systems in place to help improve the quality of life for those living with the condition, as well as their carers. From memory clinics to dementia cafes, there is sure to be a service to suit your needs.
We met with Stephen Johns at Solent Mind who heads up the Remind Team in Portsmouth, supporting local people with dementia. Stephen gave us an insight into the work Mind carry out and the key challenges they face.
Caring for someone with dementia can prove to be extremely difficult and stressful at times. However, you should never feel like you are alone. In Hampshire, there is a network of Dementia-friendly communities and local support groups, to help you and the person you care for.
