Free Bus Travel with the Older Person’s Bus Pass

The Hertfordshire Older Person’s Bus Pass lets you get free bus travel in Hertfordshire at any time, and free off-peak travel between 9.30am and 11pm weekdays and all day during the weekend across England. You are eligible for an older person’s bus pass if you live in Hertfordshire and have reached the female state pension age (67), whether you’re a man or a woman. 1/3 Off All Rail Travel with National Rail
Available from National Rail is a 1-year Senior Railcard that can save older people 1/3 of the fare on any train journeys that they book. The 1-year card costs just £30, or they can opt for a 3-year card for the reduced rate of £70. The Seniors’ Railcard is a great way of making saving on all of your journeys, within Hertfordshire or beyond.

A National Express Senior Coach Card costs only £12.50, and provides a 1/3 discount on all National Express coach journeys. Better still, if you don’t make savings up to the full £12.50 cost of the card over the year, they will refund you the card in full, so there’s absolutely no reason not to! 25% Off Membership with the National Trust
The National Trust offers a 25% discount on membership fees for over-60s that have been been in possession of a membership (individual or joint) for at least 5 of the last 10 years. This discounted price is £57.60 for an individual senior membership. This membership provides free access to National Trust properties, including Shaw’s Corner in Hertfordshire, one of Age Space’s Best Hertfordshire Cultural Days Out.

25% Off at Specsavers across Hertfordshire
People aged over 60 in Hertfordshire can benefit from a 25% discount when they buy a single pair of glasses from Specsavers’ £69 range or any range above that. Boots run a rewards scheme for over-60s that are Advantage Card holders. Over-60s receive double reward points, and so double the discounts when they use their Boots Advantage Card to buy things. Hungry Horse ‘Golden Years’ Menu

Hungry Horse have a seniors discount, as well as a special ‘Golden Years’ menu of slightly smaller portions for the over 60s. From this menu you can order two courses for £4.69, or add a third for just an extra £1.50. There are pubs owned by Hungry Horse throughout Hertfordshire, and your relative can search for their nearest branch from the Hungry Horse website. There are three Hungry Horse branches in Hertfordshire, in Stevenage, Letchworth and Hemel Hempstead.
Greene King Seniors Menu
Greene King, a nationwide chain of public houses that serve food, has a dedicated Seniors Menu in most of the branches of their pubs. This menu has classic dishes of slightly smaller portions, and heavily reduced prices – their all-day breakfast and fish and chips are only £2.99 apiece.
