Assistive Technology in Surrey

Electronic tools can help elderly people remain living independently and safely in the home for longer. They also bring peace of mind to families concerned about their loved one.

In Surrey, councils work in partnership with Surrey Telecare to provide a Community Alarm and Telecare Service. The service works through an alarm unit in an elderly person’s home. This is connected to a telephone which is linked to a helpline.

When an alarm is raised (through a wearable pendant, or other sensor), the helpline is called automatically, and appropriate assistance is notified.

There is a small weekly charge for the community alarm. Please find your elderly relative’s borough or district council below for contact details and more information:

If your loved one falls into at least one of these categories then we recommend organising a Home Fire Safety Visit.
