Our Experience with the Careline365 GO GPS

The Careline365 GO GPS is a personal alarm system that works without needing a landline and instead uses a mobile connection. This means that whether your elderly relative is at home, out and about in the garden, or taking the dog for a walk, they will always be able to get help if they need it.

If the wearer takes a fall, gets lost, or needs help for any other reason, all they need to do is press and hold the buttons on the front and back of the GO GPS unit at the same time. Doing this will alert the 24/7 specially-trained Response Team. A member of the team can talk directly to your elderly relative to make sure they’re okay, reassure them, and get them help if needed. This might be by contacting someone from a list of trusted contacts (e.g. family or neighbours) or an ambulance. The built-in GPS means that the Response Team will know where they are – even if they themselves don’t.

The Careline365 GO GPS can be worn around the neck, attached to a set of keys or clipped to a belt. It comes with a wireless charger – so there is no need to worry about any wires when charging it. That being said, you won’t need to charge it too often. The GO GPS has an impressive battery life, lasting up to 1 month on one charge. Careline365 also avoid using complicated series of flashing lights and beeps to convey information about the pendant. If either button is pressed, a voice message lets the user know the signal strength and remaining battery.ย

Jimmy's Experience: Hands on with the Careline365 GO GPS Alarm

We have a panel of older people who review products featured on Age Space.ย  We asked Jimmy, 85, from Dorset, to review this product. He tried it out in his own home to test out all the features and see how it fared.

We then asked Jimmy some questions about his experience with the Careline365 GO GPS Alarm. Click on each question to open the answer.

Was the pendant easy to set up?

It was all very easy to connect up. There is very little set up to do apart from register, and then perform a system check โ€“ which is easy to follow. What I found particularly useful throughout was that the pendant itself responds to every check/command with a voice message โ€“ so youโ€™re not looking for flashing lights etc โ€“ it tells you what to do.

What did you think of the pendant?

The pendant alarm itself is very sleek and tactile to the touch.ย  It is light and comes with a pendant chain or a key ring. I found the pendant chain a bit short for me โ€“ it got a bit tangled up over my head with my ears and glasses, so I may consider using the keyring attachment instead.

What about charging?

The instructions it came with were very clear. The pendant sits very neatly in the base unit. We set it to charge. The base unit clearly changes from blue (charging) to green (charged) โ€“ very easy to see. The instructions propose recharging as little as once every month. This would be very useful for me.

Did you test out alerting the Response Team?

Yes! I took it out to the countryside where there was no chance it could be working through the Wi-Fi. I pressed the alarm, and exactly as the instructions said, there was an initial recorded voice message as I was connected to the Response Centre. I waited no more than 45 seconds in total from pressing the button to hearing the lady in the centre. She was warm and friendly and when I asked where I was she told me exactly. She even gave me my โ€œ3 wordโ€ coordinates which provide a location within a 1 metre-squared area

What are your overall thoughts about the Careline365 GO GPS?

Overall, I really liked the personal alarm. It was very neat around my neck, I found the voice activated instructions extremely helpful - as my eyesight is not great to see small flashing lights or buttons;ย  the response from the call centre was fast and reassuring. Having fallen over in the garden quite recently, I would find this device extremely useful and my family would probably be grateful for me wearing one.ย

A Careline365 Customer Review

"My Mum who is nearly 91, lives with us. She is generally in good health but has become less steady on her feet in recent months. She has a fall while we were on holiday so we decided an alarm to her her & us peace of mind, would be a good idea. I phoned for information and 48hrs later my Mum was wearing the GPS Version. Honestly I hope she never needs it but I do feel better knowing she can!"
