Our Experience with the SureSafe 24/7 Connect

The SureSafe 24/7 Connect Alarm is a monitored personal alarm service consisting of a plugged-in alarm base unit and a wearable alarm pendant or wrist button. The base unit connects via landline to SureSafe’s 24/7 monitoring team.

The standard alert mechanism is a red alarm button worn either as a pendant or around the wrist. The SureSafe 24/7 Connect ensures that if your parent presses the alarm button on their pendant, they will be contacted quickly through the home base unit by a trained monitoring team to find out what is wrong, reassure them, and arrange suitable help. This can either be by contacting a pre-agreed list of people, and/or calling an Ambulance. The small alarm pendant that comes as standard in the package is fully waterproof (perfect for baths and showers), and works up to 100m away from the base unit.

If you are particularly worried that your parent is at risk of falling and not being able to alert the monitoring team themselves, there are two extra options that both work with the same base unit: FallSafe and Fall Alert, both of which are also reviewed here. Unlike the standard alarm pendant, both options come with built-in fall detection, so that if your parent takes a fall, the 24/7 monitoring team is alerted automatically, without your parent needing to press a button. This can be very important should your parent lose consciousness, or mobility, after they fall.

  • SOS Button: Request help at the touch of a button.
  • Works up to 100m from the base unit, even in the garden.
  • Talk through the base unit to 24/7 monitoring team.
  • Waterproof Pendant: Shower and Bath Proof
  • No engineer needed for installation - simply plug in and test.
  • Monitoring team know when the battery is low and send a free replacement
  • Add Fall Detection for additional price

  • Requires a power plug near to a telephone socket (works using landline)
  • All the necessary plugs and wires included in the box
  • 3 large tactile buttons on base unit to Call, Cancel, and Home/ Away
  • Microphone & Speaker built into the base unit
  • Works even in a power-cut: Monitoring team know if there's been a power-cut and can check up
  • Pendant Dimensions: 26 x 36 x 14mm
  • Pendant Weight: 7grams

Hands on with the SureSafe 24/7 Connect Alarm

We have a panel of older people who review products featured on Age Space.  We asked Jimmy, 85, from Dorset, to review this product. He tried it out in his own home to test out all the features and see how it fared.

We asked Jimmy some questions about his experience with the SureSafe 24/7 Connect Alarm. Click on each question to open the answer.

Q.

Was the pendant easy to set up?

A.

The set-up is super easy as all the cables and extensions are included to connect the base unit to an existing landline. It is literally plug and play. The instructions are clear and I was set up very fast.

Q.

How easy was the pendant to put on by yourself?

A.

It might be a bit fiddly for someone who is a bit fumbly to attach to the wristband, but the lanyard is very easy.

Q.

What did you think of the pendant?

A.

It was very light and easy to wear either as a pendant or around the wrist. It's very small so it doesn't stand out much. The button is nice and tactile too, so you know when you've pressed it.

Q.

How was your experiencing testing the alarm and monitoring service?

A.

I pressed the alarm button 2 rooms away from where we set up the base unit. A friendly person from the 24/7 monitoring team was quickly connected and it was easy to hear her voice. She was reassuring and knew who to contact from a pre-agreed list of friends, family and neighbours. It was nice that she knew me by name.

Q.

What are your overall thoughts about the SureSafe 24/7 Connect?

A.

I like it, I think it's great. Its really simple to set up and use and the pendant is very light you can almost forget about it! But it's reassuring to me and my family that it's there if I needed it, and I could talk to someone very quickly.

Q.

What did you think of the optional Fall Detection add-ons?

A.

They were great - definitely something that I would probably invest in, alongside the basic alarm pendant. The Fall Alert and Fall Safe both have alarm buttons built in so you only have to wear one item at any one time. They both contacted the monitoring team when I simulated a fall too!

The Options Available for you to Buy

1. Buy the SureSafe 24/7 Connect Alarm on it's own

SureSafe Red Alarm PendantThe standard option from SureSafe comes with the discreet, small, lightweight and comfortable alarm pendant. This can be worn on a lanyard around the neck or around the wrist on a simple strap. Unlike the FallSafe and Fall Alert (see below), this option does not come with any fall detection.

There are a few options for how you pay for this product, either annually or in monthly installments (both with a £45 set-up). Pay £89 for the year or £14.99/month, with your first 3 months monitoring absolutely FREE!

While you can buy just the base unit and simple red alarm pendant as standard, SureSafe also has two other products that work with the same system that both add the extra reassurance of fall detection. These are the Fall Alert and FallSafe. Take a look at them below. Both cost the same but offer different wearing options.

2. Add the Fall Alert Pendant

Fall Alert - SureSafe 24/7 Connect Add-onThe Fall Alert can be worn around the neck and has built in fall detection technology, in addition to an alarm button. This means that if your parent takes a fall they won’t need to press a button for the monitoring team to be alerted. The Fall Alert is shower-proof (not bath-proof), and will work up to 50m from the base unit.

Pay £124.95 upfront and £14.99 monthly or £162 once a year + £45 one-time set-up fee.

3. Add the FallSafe Wrist Alarm

SureSafe FallSafe Wrist PendantThe FallSafe has the same fall detection technology as with Fall Alert, but can be worn on the wrist. The design is very modern and subtle – it could be mistaken for any smartwatch or fitness tracker! The FallSafe works in the shower (not the bath) and works up to 50m from the base unit.

Pay £124.95 upfront and £14.99 monthly or £162 once a year + £45 one-time set-up fee.

A SureSafe Customer Review

"Exceptional Customer Service and Excellent Product. This company have completely exceeded my expectation. I cannot speak highly enough about them. They went over and above to ensure that was able to achieve my goal of receiving my Fall Safe urgently and have it set up in superfast time. I would recommend them in a heartbeat. My father was really pleased with the alarm worn on the wrist which is totally waterproof which means he does not need to take it off. I could see him visibly calm just knowing that someone would be there should he have a fall....... and I actually slept for the first time in a week! Great product, so easy to set up (you just plug it in), simple instructions, had a message to test the system when we were ready, very polite service centre. 5 STARS!"
