Ever Active Classes in Reading and West Berkshire

Reading and West Berkshire councils work together to provide Ever Active classes. Exercise sessions are low to moderate intensity and designed so people can take part at their own place. Sessions are delivered in a friendly and inclusive environment by a qualified instructor.

Movie It or Lose It! are specialised exercise classes designed by experts to improve flexibility, aerobic health, balance and strength in older age. They are popular across the UK as have proved to result in weight loss. Classes can be carried out seated or standing, depending ability.

SMILE Sessions in Windsor and Maidenhead

SMILE stands for So Much Improvement with a Little Exercise. The group’s main focus is to provide light aerobic exercise within a sociable environment for the elderly community of Windsor and Maidenhead.

Bowls in Berkshire

Sessions are delivered across local community centres and halls in the area. Everyone is made to feel welcome, particularly those who have recently had their life changed, e.g. losing a partner or having a stroke. Every week, there is a jam-packed schedule of exercise sessions, meaning there is something for everyone regardless of ability. Sessions are varied and include aerobics, bowls, circuits and short tennis.

Pricing depends on the location and length of session and vary from £2 to no more than £4.05. Tea, coffee and biscuits after a session are sometimes available for an extra 50p.

Age UK Tai-Chi Sessions in Berkshire

Tai-Chi originates from ancient China and is a popular form of exercise amongst older people around the world. It focuses on slow and gentle movement to improve balance and posture. Furthermore, it is renowned for its positive impact on mental well being and reducing stress.

A mainly chair based yoga session to help mobilise stiff joints and improve flexibility. The sessions focuses on relaxation, breathing technicques and gentle stretching.
