Being a carer can be tiring and demanding, and sometimes you need a break. Respite care gives carers the opportunity to take some time off for as little as one afternoon, or as long as a few weeks.
Some carers feel guilty about taking a break, but feeling rested and having some time to yourself can enable you to feel at-your-best when you return to caring.
Additionally, the period of respite care can give the person being cared for the opportunity to meet new people and be involved in fun, social activities.
