There are plenty of discounts available to over 60s in Norfolk, from discounted travel, to money off health products and entertainment. Age Space has compiled a list of some of the best discounts in Norfolk for you and your elderly relatives.
Over 60s Discounts for Travel in Norfolk
Bus Travel
Access to free bus travel is one of the well known perks that this country offers to assist the elderly in getting around, once they reach the state pension age. For more information on what the free bus pass entails and how to apply, you can visit the Norfolk County Council Website. A Free Travel Bus Pass entitles the user to free travel:
- Between 9:30am – 11:00pm on weekdays
- All day on weekends and bank holidays
- Anywhere in England on local bus services only
Please note that although Norfolk’s Park & Ride services are not a part of this scheme, pass holders will be entitled to a discounted rate of £2.00 after 9.30am and £1.70 after 12:00pm.

Train Travel
Over 60s are able to purchase a Senior Railcard for £30 on Senior Railcard’s Website. The holder will then be entitled to 1/3rd off rail fares for a year. It is important that the holder carries the Railcard on their person during travel to avoid receiving a fine. You can also buy a Senior Railcard at a station (bring a passport photo to be used).

Coach Travel
National Express offer Senior Coachcards for those over 60 who would rather take the coach. A Senior Coachcard all0ws the holder to get 1/3rd off of Standard and Fully Flexible tickets for coach travel at £12.50 (+£2.50 p&p) per year.

Blue Badge Scheme
The Blue Badge scheme is a national scheme that entitles the holder to car parking concessions, if they or their passenger has severe mobility problems. Applications will need to have support from a specialist healthcare professional and can be made through the government website, for £10.00. Leisure Discounts for the Over 60s in Norfolk
National Trust
The National Trust offers a senior discount of 25% off their membership scheme. To be eligible, you must be over 60 and have held a pre-existing membership for the last three consecutive years. This is an opt-in scheme, meaning your membership won’t automatically update to the reduced rate. Call them on 0344 800 1895 to add the discount to your membership.

English Heritage
English Heritage have many attractions all over Norfolk, such as Castle Acre Priory, Castle Rising and Greyfriars Cloisters. For those over 65, there is a reduced, senior membership rate so you can enjoy their history and beauty at a lower cost. Specsavers
At Specsavers, over 60s can get 20% off a single pair of glasses in specific ranges, alongside free NHS-funded eye tests. There are stores in Norwich, Thetford, Dereham, Wymondham, King’s Lynn and more.
Boots
Boots offer over 60s increased points on their Boots’ Advantage Card scheme, as well as 25% off selected prescription glasses and sunglasses.

NHS Prescription Pre-payment Certificate (PPC)
The NHS have a Prescription Pre-Payment Certificate scheme that they describe as a “prescription season ticket”. There are 2 options available:
- The 3-month PPC costs £31.25 and will save you money if you need more than 3 prescribed items in 3 months.
- The 12-month PPC costs £111.60 and will save you money if you need more than 11 prescribed items in a year.

Over 60s Discounts for Food and Entertainment in Norfolk
Odeon
Odeon runs Silver Cinema screenings for guests aged over 60, showing current releases and timeless classics. Tickets are from £3.50, which includes tea, coffee and biscuits served before the showing. In Norfolk, there is one Odeon cinema in Norwich.
The Light
The Light Cinema offers a senior discount on viewings to those aged 60 and over. There is a Light cinema in Thetford, as well as one just over the Cambridgeshire border in Wisbech for those in West Norfolk.
Merlin Cinema
Merlin Cinema have a branch in Cromer that also offers discounted ticket pricing for seniors. These tickets tend to be £1 less than their adult equivalents.
Hungry Horse
Hungry Horse runs a lot of pubs across Norfolk, including ones in Norwich (Shoe Makers, Fieldfare), King’s Lynn (The Gatehouse) and Thetford (The Chase) among others. The Golden Years scheme is available to the over 60s only and entitles them to 2 courses for £4.70. Find your nearest pub.
