In Surrey, this service is called the Non-Emergency Patient Transport Service (NEPTS). The service is free and available for residents of Surrey who are registered with a local GP.

Eligibility for Patient Transport Services in Surrey
The NEPTS is available for patients who are:
- attending hospital outpatient clinics
- being admitted to or discharged from hospital wards
- needing life-saving treatments such as radiotherapy, chemotherapy or renal dialysis or DVT treatment
Only certain patients are eligible to use the service. Patients are considered eligible if:
- their medical condition is such that they require the skills and support of NEPTS staff during or after their journey, and/or it would be detrimental to their condition or recovery to travel by other means
- their medical condition affects their mobility to such an extent that they would be unable to access healthcare
- it would be detrimental to their condition or recovery to travel by other means

Patients who are registered with a GP in the Surrey Heartlands ICS (the majority of Surrey) will have NEPTS provided by the EMED Group.

Patient Transport Services in Frimley
The NHS’ South Central Ambulance Service provides the NEPTS for patients registered in the Frimley ICS (Farnham and Surrey Heath) locality.
Frimley patients’ first NEPTS journey must be booked by a healthcare professional, or by calling the Central Booking Line (contact number below). The NEPTS Patient Zone can then be used to book subsequent journeys, manage bookings and check journey statuses.
