Meal delivery takes away the tasks of shopping, cooking and cleaning which can prove difficult for elderly Surrey residents. A regular meal delivery service means stress-free access to a hot and healthy meal, and prolonged independence. For more information, on elderly well being, please see our Age Space Guide to Keeping Healthy in Old Age.
As well as meal delivery in Surrey, you may want to take a look at Lunch Clubs in Surrey and Day Care Centres in Surrey. These options also provide a hot meal, along with the chance to socialise and sometimes take part in activities.
This guide will look at options available in Surrey, pricing and how to make a referral/order. Meal delivery services are provided by the local councils and private companies. However, it is important to note that Surrey local council services are only available to the most vulnerable residents. This means your elderly relative must be either:
- unable to cook or shop for themselves
- not motivated to cook and is in danger of malnutrition
- unaware of the time or the need to eat regular meals
- have a disability or long term illness
- have recently left hospital and need extra support for a while
If your relative does not fall into these categories, but would like to access a meal delivery service, please take a look at Surrey Private Meal Delivery Services.
